Love Stories: Building Hope Together

Ava* contacted us asking for help with some small outstanding utility bills. As a pregnant, single mother of 2, she had been living at the local domestic violence shelter and was planning to move to an apartment. The shelter had paid the deposit and would cover the first few months of rent—the utility bills were the only things standing in the way. Our Love INC team contacted our partner churches, who were able to cover the amount, and notified the companies so that Ava could begin moving in. Furthermore, we were able to send a voucher to the local thrift shop, which provided $600 worth of items for her new apartment, and we referred her to a pregnancy center where she received needed baby items. One partner church even donated a couch! During this process, we were able to talk with Ava and hear more about her story. Two weeks later, Love INC volunteers followed up, prayed with Ava, and sent a note of encouragement. Love INC’s mission is aimed at creating long-term, transformative change, and this is done through investing in relationships. Pray that addressing immediate and specific needs leads to more opportunities where we can impact people in deeper, lasting ways.
